Default Exhaust for 6i

Alright, I'm looking to swap out my stock exhaust for something else...but haven't been able to find an exhaust system for the '04 4 cylinder. Have any of you seen any? I would really like to go TRUE duel exhaust...but it depends on the price too. Any info would be much appreciated!

Magna Flows

They have the lowest prices for mazda 6 stuff, that exhaust should be around 400 bux. If you want a even better sound look into Injen, but expect to pay about 300 dollars more. Anyways, RPM is the best, I am working on getting money to get CP-e intake, CP-e headers, and the Magna flows from them to give a great sound.

go here and listen this is the cp-e intake, headers and y pipe.

Also on this link there are other videos to watch. Here is a link to Magna Flows.

the sound produced from the Injen exhausts are amazing on the 6cyl... i've never heard them on a 4cyl.

Injen doesn't make a 4cyl exhaust. you've got MF, Greddy, Draxas and i believe Apexi or Tanabe had one.

any reason you want true dual on a 4cyl? you can have it custom made, but you'd have to find someone to fab up a header first though as they collect at 4. and there would be seriously no gain from the setup on a 4cyl, so i'd stay away from that, but that's me.

there is no power to be made from it, so if you want the sound you can go with a few of the axle-backs out there or just go to a performance shop and pick out a couple mufflers you like....you'll feel the same gain as someone with a catback.

if you want performance, buy a highflow cat and have a shop fab up a new midpipe, which is where the restriction is on our exhaust systems.

just my thoughts

Thanks MrTea. I am going to be having an exhaust made custom for my car. I'd rather get the full exhaust as opposed to just getting a muffler. I actually never really wanted to bother with exhaust at first. But I figured I better do it right if I am going to modify the car. The reason I asked about the exhaust is because I found nothing on Ebay...and figured just to ask here instead of going through the headache of searching! I am not going to be doing any mods until the Spring. Except for a few little things here and there. Like I am getting my new grill sometime this week or next week, but not putting it on until the insurance company of the wench that hit me takes liability for the accident I was in. [:'(]

I thin k a 4cyl true dual is impossible.

Why is that?

Well true duals are normall found on engines with a V formation and have to sets of headers (one for each side of the engine) those sets each have their own pipes the go all the way to the back with it's on catalyctic converter and it's own muffler. An in-line 4 ingine has one header going off of the block and all 4 pipes of the header direct into one pipe so the formation would be "4 to 1 to 2". Instead of "3 to 1 to 1 + 3 to 1 to 1" or "4 to 1 to 1 + 4 to 1 to 1" etc. Either way all your axhaust gases will pass through a single pipe at one point thus not being a true dual. You would probably order a y-pipe for your header that splits the setup into 2 pipes. Those pipes are still only being fed by 1 source thus not being true duals, you would need to order 2 seperare hlaf-headers to run true duals on an in-line 4. Does any of that make sense?

which is the same i said, though it's not impossible. there are 4-2-1 headers out there, you could run pipes from there, but that's just dumb.

back on topic, it will save you a good $100or so if you just go with mufflers. the section from the cat back isn't a big restriction UNLESS you open up the piping between the header and cat....no matter how big it is after, it still has to go through that bottleneck. again, just my thoughts on it. i have a greddy setup if anyone in socal wants it by the way
