Default Extended Warranty for Mazda6, 07 - do I need it?

Hi there! New here, havequestion: is it worth to buy an extended warranty up to 100K miles for my Mazda 6i, 07. Do Mazdas have a pattern of breaking down after 60K?or they ussially break after 100K?? Anybody can give good advice?

Thanks.

P.S. What kind of halogen lightbulbs or HID kit (more money, but will itbe worse it?)would you recommend to replace the headlights with to make them much brighter?? Original ones are very weak

I will not buy it. You never know how long your mazda6 last. My 04 mazda6 got an accident at 27,000 miles. The car could not drive after repairing. Besides, the mazda6 does not have a good resale value compare to honda or toyota. I think I will focus on maintenance after warranty. For instance, I will change transmission oil every 15,000 miles or 30,000 miles on mazda 6s, 06. The transmission cost around $1,500 for rebuild one. I will take a risk if the problems really come out.

I would also agree with K but you never know what will happen down the road, so if I where you I would think about how long you intend to keep the car and make your choice. I have an 06 Mazda3 with 48,000 miles and went to my local dealer to inquire about extended warranty(100,000 mile)and was told that I can purchase one threw Mazda with no money down and no interest for $100.00 a month til the $1100 dollars was paid in full. They require you use automatic withdrawl threw your bank or credit card. I also shopped around with different warranty companies and Mazda was the cheapest believe it or not.

If you decided to buya warranty, make sure it's from Mazda, not some Joe's Warranty Inc. which may not be around when you have to make a claim.

It depends on the cost of the warranty and what that warranty covers (read the details.) You'd be surprised at the number of parts considered "wear items" which aren't covered under the warranty. Also be careful to read the qualifying conditions. It may require you to have your oil changed exclusively at the dealer to maintain a maintenance record. (that could get pricey as well)

They sell those warranties because they make money on them. Maybe you make a claim, but more likely than not you won't have to, and you need to try to figure out if your expected expenses are greater than the cost of the warranty.

I've got 78,000+ miles on my wife's car with no issues. Keep up on the maintenance as recommended and you should be fine.

I would only buy the warranty if it is through Mazda. I have not had luck with aftermarket warranties, but I bought the mazda bumper-bumper warranty to 100K with a $50 deductible and it cost me 999. I had a 2005 Mazda 6i. At like 55k the left 2 vents would be cold when I had the AC on and the right 3 wouldn't be. I brought it to Tasca Mazda in MA and they took a look at it and said the heating control module was gone and they had to take apart my whole dash and the part was like a 1,000 part. I didn't care, I asked if the warranty covered it and they said yes. So 1600 worth of work only cost me 50. As long as it is a mazda warranty they track it by your VIN # and there are no issues. I would highly recommend it if you want to keep your car for a while. It doesn't matter if the car depreciates quickly or not. You are covered. If you have the 999 now you may not later on. Also lets say the car gets wrecked (in my case I traded it in for a Mazda 3) you can return the warranty for a pro-rated amount back. I used the warrantry and I traded it in and got like 6xx$ back. It was a win-win situation for me. But what I liked was that piece of mind not worrying about anything. If it is a mazda warranty def. do it!
