Failure to start - help!
Hi all,
My friend just picked up her brand new 2006 Mazda 6 4-cyl auto tranny last week.
Already she's had 4 episodes of the engine failing to start from cold (not a running stall). It certainly hasn't been unseasonably cold, either.
The rest of the time there's no problem.
The dealer thinks there's nothing wrong, and has suggested that she doesn't know how to turn the key (!!!).
Has anyone else had/heard of any engine start issues with this engine/transmission combo?
Thanks, Mazda owners!

RE: Failure to start - help!
hmm. I have never had that such problem on my 05 Mazda 2.3 4cylinder automatic. I have 11,000 miles on mine. Only once did it not start the first time. Maybe a bad spark plug, starter, batteryand fuel pump. check those things! I live here in toledo where it is usually in the lower teens (in the winter)

Is the battery dead or it cranks over but won't start ? Read the manual for proper starting procedures; make sure it's in PARK, don't touch the accelerator, turn the igntion on for 5 seconds to allow the fuel pump to work, then start. Good Luck.
