Have any of you swapped out your stock headlight bulbs for different ones? I got the Sylvania Silverstars, but haven't put them in yet. I was just wondering whether they're really going to make a difference or if I'd just be wasting my time/money switching them. Consumer Reports says that a lot of aftermarket bulbs like the Silverstars/Nighthawks/Crystalvisions/Truviews actually reduce visibility...they are just whiter. But they said it really depends on the lenses and reflectors as opposed to the actual bulbs themselves. None of the vehicles they tested these bulbs on had projector headlights though.

I had a friend that did that with a type of Sylvania bulbs. It looked a lot diffrent.

He said that they where much better. So I don't really know.

I would guess that they would but if I where you I would try to find some stock ones that can fit your car and compart the two packages.

But thats me.

I would personaly like to get some like that for my 323.

but again thats just me.

Well, I already have the bulbs that are for my car. I just haven't put them in yet. They're the Sylvania Silverstars...I am sure they're the same ones your friend used. I guess I will just throw them in and see how much of a difference they make compared to stock. I just have to wait til the sky is dumping more snow on me here! Calling for 5-7", and it's pretty bad out right now!

Just before owning the 6 , I was worried about the projection intensity it would have with the little beam circles , myself . I was even thinking of putting Mazda Protégé 5 fog lights behind the middle bottom grill (still will in da spring) . I don't know if that's why also you got the bulbs , or you're just not satisfied with'em ?

I tell you , I am impressed with the nice intensity they have , and when I put the integrated fog lights on ; man nothing in front is dark ... quite au contraire .... white as can be . I'm used to having really white bulbs on my Cobra with PIAA !!! I don't know if yours has fogs , probably not since it's base model , also maybe the bulbs for the regular headlights are of a lesser brightness also ???

Sylvania SilverStars do improve over basic headlights like on my girlfreind's car she had put on . They are very much white indeed , for the cheapy price they sell'em compared to PIAA's .

Let us know , Alyssa ...

I haven't gotten around to putting them in yet...it's been REALLY cold here. It's 4 degrees Farenheight currently. I am not satisfied with the brightness of my stock lowbeam bulbs...hence why I got the silverstars. Then I read that article in Consumer Reports and was like "Well ****...if it's not going to help, I'll take them back!" I don't have the intergrated foglights on my base model unfortunately.

I was looking yesterday at different places and I was wandering the same thing. Because I work at night and it is always a pain to drive home and hope I don't find a deer or something else on the road.

I like the looks of the bright whites too and also the ones you see that have the blueish tint to them. What kind of lights are those that are bright but have the blue tint to them?

Thanks,
~Sandy

For the HIDs, I believe the 6000k has a blue tint to them while the 8000k has more of a purplish/dark blue tint to them. When you look at the 5000k, this is a bright white look that allows you to get the full output of the light projection. The higher up you go, the less light projection you get but the more color you obtain as well.

the silverstars have a different light to them.... the pick up different things on the road, not more or less just different things.

but i myself have always gone with piaa offroad lights for an upgrade. they replace your stock 55/65 watt bulbs with a 155 watt bulb

its totally illegal but man can you see everything, everything.
