Help With Replacing Tires

Help With Replacing Tires
I could use a little help in choosing replacement tires for my 6. The size is 215/50/17. I don't want the Michelin MXM4 tires that are on there now. The selection locally isn't the best. So far I am looking at Goodyear ResponseEdge, and Cooper CS4. The Coopers have a better price, but I'm unsure about that brand. I like the way the 6 handles and don't want to compromise that.
Any opinions on those or other tires? Thanks so much.

Hmm, well i like my Yokohama Avid T4's. They may not be UHP's or anything, but they ride nice, and are able to do most of what i ask them to (for the stuff they don't do so well....like autocross I have Bridgestone Potenza RE01-R's 225/45/17R), nice treadwear rating on them too.

RE: Help With Replacing Tires
Hi, You have to stay with the V rating so the car will handle. I found out the H rated tires are more $ than the V in the same size. I just bought 4 Yokahama AS430 for 139.00 each plus all mounting labor/road hazard at NTB tire(tire kingdom?). They come with a 60K wear out which is very good for a V rated tire. These replaced some regent touring tires I bought at ntb that didn't wear very good at all 28K. But, NTB was very fair in giving me a % credit on the bad tires toward my new Yokes. I'll keep you posted on how these wear. sd

HI, me again. I sold cooper tires and they are a good tire if you get the cooperbrand(not tires made by cooper for other retailers, regent touring for NTB) I think you can't got wrong. Cooper mileage warranty is good in that you will get pretty close to the mileage they warrant the tires for. sd

RE: Help With Replacing Tires
you could try tirerack.com and they have tires for pretty cheap and they have ratings you can read about the performence of the tire. you can also read reviews by people who have bought the tire that will help you make a better decision. the Kumho solus KH16 are nice tires that are $97 a tire.

RE: Help With Replacing Tires
You may consider looking at 225/45-17s as well; I traded the OE Michelins for Kumho SPTs in that size when I purchased the car--cost me $0.00. I am very pleased with those as a 3-season tire; I will put on winter tires (I have 215/55-16 Winterforces left over from my VW) before the snow flys.
If you want a performance all-season, the Kumho ASX is nice, especiallyfor the money--but not for someplace with heavy snow.

RE: Help With Replacing Tires
I've been using the Falken FK 452 on my Boxster. Good price and better treadwear than most summer tires. Which is a plus because you can't rotate Boxster tires (different sized fronts and backs) and the negative camber makes them wear uneven. Anyway, they're really excellent tires and I'm very happy with their performance. I don't track my car, but I've been on some pretty twisty mountain roads and they have plenty of grip.
