how to install an Injen CAI.....

RE: how to install an Injen CAI.....
alright, CAI is all installed and have yet to encounter a cel after 400 miles of driving. I guess i'm lucky for now but I am going with an air/fuel fix chip that will give me a little more power and completely avoid that annoying cel that will eventually come on. Sounds really nice too! I compared mine to an AEM intake side by side, both mazda6 v6'es and the injen tends to be a little bit louder. I guess that would be from the given higher air that is sucked in. Thus causing the CEL to come on. Injen is much more prevalent than the AEM when it comes to CELs coming on.
I got a little lazy with taking pictures of how to install the CAI, so I got a little document from Injen Tech. that was actually in color (they normally give handouts in black and white). This helps out alot more to see the parts in color.
So if you need me to send you a copy of how to install the intake, I will gladly send it to you. Just post up on this topic if you need it.
Have a great day ladies and gentlemen!

I've decided to add a little more info about the intake since I have installed it. When I hit around 3800 through 5000 rpms, the car really starts to pull forward with torque. This power greatly speeds up the shifting process from what I have noticed as a quick result of the power. The sound in that range is phenomenal as well! Had a few guys give me comments when I was pulling into the parking lot at school.... its nice to get comments. It is a sense that you have done a job well done!
I have attached some dyno runs dealing with horsepower and torque if any of you wondered what the average gains were with this RD Series intake from Injen. Enjoy!

That dyno chart isn't for the 3.0L, is it? The hp #'s seem much too low even with efficiency losses taken into account.
220 engine hp stock * 0.8 (efficiency of NA engine.....estimate) = 176 wheel hp
Now from a general standpoint - an 8% increase in power (155hp to 168 hp) isn't bad at all for this type of modification without tuning being involved. (plug & play.)

Did you hook up the Wideband O2 sensor when you dyno'd? I'm curious what your A/F ratios are. Also, what brand dyno did you do you pulls on? Mustangs tend to run lower numbers (but more acurate) than Dynojets.

I just pulled that dyno chart from the injen website... the vehicle that was used for that dyno was a duratec engine. That was just to show you the results that resulted from the CAI. If I find a dyno place in my area or not too far away, I will get my car tested just to see the results.

I already have the Injen installed in my 6 and have had NO c.e.l. and it's been 2 months since it went in. I love it!
I know mne is in the 2.3liter but I just ordered the HAAS turbo system for it so it will do just fine when it is all said and done!

nice engine compartment... very clean and i'm loving the intake. Did you modify anything to get more of an airflow to your intake? I'll be goofing around in the next couple of weeks to find the best solution to get alot of airflow without producing alot of harm to the intake.

RE: how to install an Injen CAI.....
well i took out those nasty side front grilles that didn't do to much at all. I needed air to get through those areas in order to get more air to my intake. What was my solution??? i quarter-inch meshed my entire lower bumper and took out the stock black grille. Now there is alot of air coming into my engine compartment.
from what i've noticed... my car shifts verrry smoothly now and has virtually no lag time at all. With my cold air intake and this new bumper modification, my car can be compared with the shifting of a chrysler vehicle (world renowned for smooth shifting and luxury). I couldn't be happier with my system. Instant throttle response and a very nice growl to top things off.
