the filter head on your AEM cold air intake must be completely submerged in a puddle if water were to be any threat to your engine. ive had mine alittle more than a year and a have had no problems with water whatsoever. the only trouble ive had with the system is with the electrical system. The M(***)A(irflow)S(ensor) had been contaminated with oil and ruined which cost around $300.00 to replace through Mazda. Also the wiring to the Temp. sensor i think it was was stretched out to tight and caused the check engine light to come on and the battery light would flash on and off, as a result when the the batter light flashed the car would jolt a little bit. (i think the mazda dealer stretched it out too tight when fixing the first problem). i would just suggest if installing it yourself like i did, clear your mind and take your time. double check all of the wiring attatchment to the intake to make sure enough slack is left that there is no stress on the wiring. dont tighten the bolts, screws, etc. all of the way until you are fully done with the installation. double check everything. good luck!
