Knocking noise?
This is odd.. sometimes while I am sitting in traffic or at a four way and I push the gas to go there is a slight knocking noise coming from the engine. I'm not surewhat it could be? Any ideas?

RE: Knocking noise?
I am not sure about a knocking, but if it is a bit of a tapping sound then I have it too. I think it sounnds like a valve tapping, but i dont know for sure. Any thoughts on the idea would be greatly appreciated.

If you have it, and you're burning a lot of oil, then this tends to point to an issue with the PCV. There's plenty of information on this around, basically it's a 4 dollar valve that if broken can burn out your engine really quickly.

Yes, I have the issue. it worse in the winter. The dealer said they "fixed" it but it came back. said is was an EGR valve....thuink they put some temporary insulation around it. It sounds like an '85 chevy 305 with a lifter tick

RE: Knocking noise?
i have a 2006 mazda6s 3.0 mtx with around 20000 miles. mines makes a knocking noise on idle. i took it to the dealership and they said the belt was too close or something and they moved it and replaced the water pump and belt. they said the noise was gone, but it came back. next, they said i needed an oil change, which didnt work. after that they started ignoring me saying they're waiting on mazda. i went to another dealership and they retorqued the valves and it still didnt work. now when i start the car i can hear the belt and then it goes away but after i drive it for a few minutes i can hear the noise again. my friend has an 07 and its really quiet. so im guessing there is a problem but they just cant figure it out.
