Light HOLD on a dashboard. what is it? (AT)
I don't have manual for my mazda6, and cannot figure out what the button's function is. I mean the one which is under the big button on a lever (automatic transmission). When I push it the light "HOLD" turns on at the dashboard.
Can anyone please tell me what this button does?
Thank you.

RE: Light HOLD on a dashboard. what is it? (AT)
US market does not have a HOLD button for 6 but the maybe euro market does?? Is this your location? The Hold button in prior models was used to lock the transmission in a gear. If you have trans is D and use the HOLD button then you will disable overdrive. When on the freeway, push the button and you will find that the transmission will downshift to next lower gear. This is to overide the annoying upshift-downshift-upshift that occurs at freeway speed when trying to climb a hill. Try using the operation in various gear shift positions D,2,1 and you will see that it is kind of a manual overide to changing gears.
