Default Manual shifting

Hi guys,i'm a new owner of a '05 mazda 6 hatchback sport, with a 4 cyl, and an a/t.I like the car,but since my former car was a BMW,I like to shift with the manual mode,as i think the full automatic always shifts when i don't want it to.Is it o.k. to use the manual mode extensively?R U guys do it as well?I don't want to demage my tranny.Thanks...Gabor

Maunal mode will not hurt the car. It is controlled by the ECU and it won't let you do anything stupid with it. I use it a alot on twisty roads and at autocrosses, and have never had a tranny related problem.
