About a week ago my car (2006 mazda 6) would not start... tried jumping the car and nothing would happen. Later that day I bought a new battery...the car started up fine. About 5 days later I went to drive my car and the car started fine... when I put the car into reverse it made an obnoxious clunking noise. When I pressed on the gas pedal the car would not even rev... The lights that usually come on when you start are car like the break light battery light trans light AT light they all stay on and do not turn off... I took the alternator out and tried to get it tested but some places said it was good some said it was bad... even taping off the battery and running the car with no alternator the car was still in that same limp mode... does anyone have any suggestions???

How do the cable ends look? Any signs of corrosion in the end of the ground? If so, it's possible there is corrosion down inside the cable and it's not properly grounding.
