I have the 3.0 L 6 and consistanlty get 400 mi and thats rush hour traffic mixed in with a FEW highway trips. If I am straight highway I am looking at 450-470. I ahve yet to do a thing. I do use 93, but it is becoming very costly. I am getting ready to put a K & N filter in, but every place I go to says it is a special order filter number. Good luck, and please share any tricks to good gas mileage.

How do you guys get 420 miles per tank? Do you let the marker get down as much as possible to the E (empty)?

At What RPM do you shift gears?

I have a mazda6 with a V6, I have a little over 40K miles and I will be lucky if I get over 300 miles out of a tank. Ive used 93 octane ever since I bought the car, which has been several months now. I live and work in downtown DC, traffic isnt in my favor, I am barely getting 20 mph and I drive a little bit on the highway. I just figured it was because of the V6.

I actually live in ARlington and work in Tyson's Corner, it is about a 12 mile trip to work, 24 round trip. I use I-66 a lot so I am on the highway most of the time. I occasionally make trips to MD, and that helps with the mileage. Right now I average about 365. I use 93 octance, I try and shift at about 2500-3000. Usually closer to 3000, but never higher.

well with the K and N air filter, you wil get 1-2 more mpg. if you get a air intake kit, it will be more like 2-5 mpg.

do you guys go past the first click when filling your tank? When I go past the first click, I usually get 450 miles on a tank, and when I stop at the first click, I get about 435.

When I first bought my 6s last year we took it to Florida. We average about 28-29MPG on that trip. I'm lucky to get 22MPG with around-town driving.
