Since I know what kind of car you're looking at, I would actually steer you away from the Speed6. Why? It's heavy and underpowered (compared to its competitors). I'm not saying it's a poorly made car, it's just that the aftermarket just does not exist for the Speed6 in the same way it does for others.
With that said, I'd move towards an 04-07 WRX (STis are overpriced, even used), or Evo IX SE (NOT the MR! The 6 speed is nice, but the tranny's weak). You can find an Evo like that for about 24-25K these days. And the aftermarket for the Evo/WRX is HUGE. Yout only want 300WHP? Easily done. Same said for 500WHP, there's everything out there for you.

I don't mind it being heavy(coming from a Highlander that weighs over 4000), its the only thing out there other than Evo or STi that I would look at, however those other two cars are too flashy and I prefer a bigger car. I'm coming from driving a Camry and Highlander....
I'm not really looking to mod it much, can't afford it, just something peppy and manual to drive to work and school. Plus, a MS6 looks more professional than say a Evo or STi.
PS: Also I'm from the north... Evo isn't really an option for me, too much hassle.

Ah, well, if you're going to stay stock...then the MS6 is a good fit. I admit, I don't mind driving the Evo I get to drive because...well, I'm 19. I'm who people expect to be behind the wheel.
And the North? How far North? A stock Evo handles the snow well. Why would it be too much hassle?

Well, yes and no. The problem, as I understand it, with the speed engines is the turbo. For whatever reason, it just doesn't seem to like it when you mod the engine out. The engine is the same as the one in the speed3 and that one has gotten nothing but praise. As for not being fast, they are fast enough to get you into trouble, and they handle well enough that simply slapping on a set of decent tires will make it perform decently on the track.

You get what you pay for. Those cars are better stock vs. stock, and have way more potential in the aftermarket.

I will pick up WRX only if there were snow in winter. Otherwise, speed6 is best choice.
It is a right size compare to WRX, EVO and speed3.
Besides, it is hard to find a Mitsubishi dealer in Los Angeles,CA. I will never consider to buy any car from Mitsubishi.
