Mazdaspeed6 Performance Parts Info.
Although I just got my MS6, I've already started looking for performance parts. I've got quite a bit of info online through different mazda forums then I came across a company called Tri-Point Engineering. http://tripointengineering.com/ They are Mazda Performance Specialists so I figured they're the best place to go for performance parts and questions.
After talking with one of the guys down there it turns out that the MS6's ECU does the same as my last car. When you modify the engine in any way you will feel the gains for about a week. After a few hundred miles of driving, the ECU re-learns and corrects itself and you're back to stock power. Right now they're working on the Mazda3s and 6s but their next project is the MS6 and I'm one of the first people on their list for updates on the performance breakthroughs on this vehicle.
When they are done with their R&D on the 3 and 6, they will get to working on the ECU for the MS6 and I'll post up with more info.
Feel free to call them (818)348-5385. The guy I talked to is Mark and he'll have answers to most of your questions.

Yeah stock ECUs are so restrictive nowadays on all cars. I've heard EVOs are incredibly hard to tune and I know Rx-8s are. That's why aftermarket ECUs are getting so popular. If you order the part, and post a good writeup and a detailed explenation on what it does to help the car I can sticky it for you. Good luck with the results when they release it.

Update:
I'm now working with Galpin Auto Sports as well. I should be getting a call back in a few minutes about performance parts as well as ECU information. They're checking on a few different things for me
I'll post up when I get back form work.

Actually, Evo's are very easy to tune. A simple re-flash is all it takes. In fact, there is a program called OpenECU now. All you need to do is buy a $90 cable. You can then download the ECU map, and modify it yourself and upload it back... The software is open source!
