Default Mucho Brake Dust on Mazda 6?

Hey Gang,

My last 4 cars - 3 VWs, 1986 Golf GTI, 1988 VW Scirocco 16v, 1995 VW Passat VR6 and 1998 Audi A4 Quattro. Although their brakes were really good they were notorious for brake dust and after 2 weeks I would usually wash the rims off if I didn't need to wash the car. Now that I have my Sportwagon 6, I am asking you guys - do they throw out mucho brake dust?

Just curious if I need to stay on my same schedule or not. Thanks in advance.

...hey yea i noticed it also. I drive a 2006 Onyx black Speed 6 and yes before i hit 1500 miles on it i noticed that the rims were very dirty looking and a small sqeak was appearing. I washed and sprayed break dust STUFF i got from the checker here but it still happens...are you thinking about changeing break pads? And if so what kind...i'm all new to this whole tuning thing and i'd like some advice.

Thax Randy

My '04 Wagon does the same thing. Just have to clean them frequently. Bollocks!

Oh but a mazda speed6 is not near as bad as an Audi A4. I just dumped my A6 and the wheels were always dirty. I even changed out my brake pads to low dust. Atleast with my Mazda speed6 I can keep them clean for 2 weeks. I usually wash them once a month and put a wax on the exterior to make it easier to clean up (just spray off) between washing.

The brake dust is horrible! But I think if you upgarde the brake pads, it isnt as bad.

European cars are heavy brake dusters, esp. the front ones when compared to the back. Next time take a look at a MB or BMW. My 2006 V6 Sport is not too bad. Has anyone try a steam cleaner to blast off the dust ?
