The Stock brakes are notorious for BLACK brake dust that shows up really quick.....BUT.......If you do like I did and go to the HAWK Ferro-Carbon brake pads which produce less than HALF as much brake dust you will not be cleaning them near as much. I have to maybe wipe the rims with a wetwipe once a week,or a windex wipe before a carshow. PLUS,they are cheaper than replacing with the factory ones too! I am VERY happy with the choice and it has been about a year since I switched them out!

I'm going to hold you to this statement

I'll have to check it out. The brake dust on the MS6 is horrible!

yea. it really works nice. suposedly thers negatively charged ions
that repel brake dust particles (sorta like magnets repelling)

i slightly change the recommended directions tho
1)wet wheel, spray on
2)wait 5 minutes. use a wet cloth to remove brakedust.
3)use a strong spray to rid the grime. (i usually re-wipe spots i missed. but thats just me )
4)spray cleaner on wheel for the SECOND time.
5)***most important*** use the mist setting on ur spray . and MIST away excess. (this
leaves behind a thick layer of the repellent ions).

hope this helps

I had horrible brake dust when I bought my 2003 Mazda 6S. I took it to the dealer several times and complained about it, but they kept telling me it is the nature of the car. I insisted the amount of brake dust was unreasonable and finally they did something (covered by warranty), probably upgraded the brake pads and it eliminated 90% of the dust. I don't know what they did, because they didn't explain to me and on the receipt it doesn't say much either. I suspect they just got tired of my complaints and upgraded my brake pads. Mazda may have advised dealers to upgrade the brake pads if customers are complaining.
I'm not sure if I could be any help but there is a solution to that problem and dealers know how to fix it!

i have a '99 merc. cougar and an '05 mazda6 wagon. the cougar gave me a ton of brake dust, so i spent the extra money and got ceramic. i am really impressed with the smoothness of braking and LACK of dust. i am trying to get ceramic pads for the wagon, as soon as i get some cheddar.

I say everyone that does not like brake dust should get ceramic, if they can afford them. You get great braking without the brake dust.
