My Mazda6S sport has an engine problem at 55K MILES!

The thing is, there are plenty of examples where any given engine (either the entire engine or a portion of it such as the block or the block and the heads) is used in more than one brand/model of car and suffers a much higher failure rate in one car than the next. That the overall failure rate of the V6 used in the Mazda6 is low is completely irrelevant within the scope of this discussion; the only thing that is relevant is the failure rate for the engine as it is installed in the Mazda6. In this case, my bet is that the failure rate is significantly higher than for other models that share the 3.0 liter engine.
