Default Oil Filter Change Question

Good morning,

This weekend I'll be doing my 1st oil & filter change on my '04 Mazda6 S Wagon that we bought in October. What side is the filter on, driver's or passenger's? Is it easily accessable, or is there any underbody trim that needs removing? I do have good ramps that I'll be pulling the car up onto. Thanks for the info!

Ok, did the oil change yesterday. The filter is to the passenger side, up front. It's easy to get on and off, but there has to be a way to keep the filter oil from pouring down onto the exhaust junction directly below it. That was the only part of this job that made me go "hmmmmm". Has anyone solved that issue?

I suspect that next time, I'll just wrap the exhaust junction in tin foil, change the filter, and then remove the tin foil. Works for me.
