Oil Filter MESS Solutions?

Oil Filter MESS Solutions?
Good morning everyone,
I have an '04 6S Wagon with the V6. As you all know, when doing an oil change and you pull the oil filter off, there is an exhaust downpipe right underneath the filter which potentially gets soaked with oil. This causes a strong oil-stink until it eventually burns off.For the two years that I've owned this car, I've simply wrapped this area with tinfoil as best I can, and that works pretty well, even though it's cumbersome.
My question is: Do any of you lot have aBETTER way of doing it, compared to my tinfoil wrapping? I'm not so great at "thinking outside of the box", so your suggestions would be appreciated. I'm simply looking to work a little bit smarter! Thanks gang,
David
