Paint Pens

Paint Pens
I recently purchased a paint pen for Glacier Silver Metallic (26A) and applied it to a rock chip. The problem is that it does not match, not even close, it is so bad that you can see it from 15 feet away, Mazda infomed me that there are 8 different shades of 26A !! So I filed a complaint with Mazda and they told me that it is supposed to be that way and that my car was sunfaded, mind you the car is only 4 months old. So after a few phone calls and more complaints they agreed to try and fix it. They are going to try and buff it out, which IMO will not work. Anyone else had a problem with the paint pens, and any ideas where I might be able to find better matching paint for the future?

RE: Paint Pens
The only thing I could suggest is going to a local car paint dealer and having them match it. The local dealer in my area matches the paint of the car with a machine.
Thats BS that your car faded in four months and no they can't buff out paint missing due to a rock!
I had trouble with mathcing another car I have with paint pens- those things are a waste of money!!

RE: Paint Pens
It's not unusual for touchup not to match. My Mazda Redfire touchup is like 2-3 shades too bright. I had a guy I know that does lot touchup work for my dealer mix me up a small amount and it is nearly perfect. Call your dealer and see who they use for touchup. Contact him/her and see if they'll do some for you.

RE: Paint Pens
Thanks for the ideas. Just to update you Mazda decided they are going to paint the hood for me. I have already asked the bodyshop to save some paint so it is guaranteed to match next time. Thanks again.
