Remote Starters?

Remote Starters?
I was wandering what everyone thought about putting a remote starter on my 04 6s? I can get one from Best buy from a friend that usually runs about $499 for $180. Python or Viper I herd those are the best two but I wanted to get some opinions on the positives and negatives from everyone to see what I should do. I don’t know how to put it on but I got a friend that works for Vision where I am getting my car tinted today and said he could do it if I wanted to for $150. I am just now rebounding from my reckless operation ticket a year ago. I got caught doing 90 in a 55 when I had started saving to put some money into my car. I appreciate any info anyone can give me to help in my decision. Thanks

Don't forget that if you have the immobilizer system it will not remote start unless you have a programmed key near the ignition switch when trying to start. This unfortunately also kills your built in security system.

RE: Remote Starters?
I wanted one at first thinking it would come in useful with the cold and the leather seats .
Spoke with the electric engineer at the dealer and they told me that they took out everyone from the used cars they bought for fear of fire (show me them full in the garbage !!) reason is that when some are installed by Joe Bloes ; they splice the wires (for check tests) and they end up heating . Another thing , he mentioned if I wanted to buy , buy one that would not make your engine starter turn excessively long periods when it doesn't want to start on an extremely cold morning when your battery is low on power .. think it has to do with a built in low volt reader or something .... can't remember clearly enough to explain you better than this right now , sorry .
I ended up not needing one . When it's time to start it , I either clear the snow while it warms up , or , I warm up my buns on the heated leather seats (heats up quickly) while I admire the interior of 'this is my car !' lol it takes about 3-4 minutes to warm up the engine and heater ... I'm never far from the door of the building anyways ......... another thing , I wanted to keep my original remote keyless entry fob , and didn't want the problems that came with it as mentioned exactly by babyhuey .... in the end I realize it's more hassles than anything else .... plus the cost of extra gaz $$$ and harmful , useless idling .

very good points made.... I was definitely contemplating a remote starter but now that those problems have been exposed, I am most likely not going to get one. That was just an idea in the air for me at the moment.

Mazda has fairly recently come out with a factory remote start system the will fit the 04-06 models that should not have all of the problems of hacking in an aftermarket system. They run about $300 for the kit and suggested install time is 1.7 hours. Have not installed one yet but maybe soon as they want one in our 04 MPV that we use for picking up and dropping off customers in for repair work.

Ya the dealers around at that time back then were on the verge of getting it too .... they couldn't answer all my issues with it , such as the shock sensors added to the alarm I had installed at the dealer before picking it up (60$) ..... with the money saved on the uncertainties of it .... I shall put it $$$ on the certainties
