Squeaking sound when getting into or out of 2006 Mazda 6
This issue is starting to drive me nuts, as I have made too many trips to the dealer for this problem. When I get in or out of the car (and the car moves forward just a slight bit), there is a rather noticeable squeak, which sounds like it's coming from the front end. First two times, the dealer lubricated something. Then, the mechanic told me that they needed to order a gasket for the catalytic converter -- he said that was what accounted for the squeak. Well I just got home from having the gasket installed. I didn't hear the squeak before leaving the dealership (I did check...but it's hard to hear when I'm not in my garage). Has anyone had a similar problem? And has anyone had to deal with a similarly inept dealership?
Thanks

hmm.. you said ur car moves forward slightly....
maybe your parking brake??
mazda brakes tend to squeak....
i dont see how a catalytic converter would cause a squeak...

Yes, there is a slight roll forward. This is when the car is being parked. I didn't really understand about the catalytic converter either. I've had it with that dealership.

Ah ! I tried applying my parking brake (I have an automatic, so don't routinely use it) and the car neither rolled nor squeaked. So the idiots at Mazda ordered and installed some gasket which did nothing. But it isn't normal to have to apply a parking brake in an automatic, is it? Suggestions?
Thanks again!

Is it normal to apply the parking brake on a car with a slushbox? I've ALWAYS applied the parking brake in all autobox cars I've ever owned.
Then again, people often call me abnormal, too...
