Default Stupid Easy Question

I bought a used car 2012 Mazda 6. I need to get a key for my spouse as it only came with one. I am okay with having one with at the lock/unlock buttons. My question is:If the car is locked with the fob and "Beeped" will I run into problems unlocking without the fob on a regular key? Thanks!

Not a stupid question at all. When the car was bought new it came with a main key with fob and a valet key without fob that only opens the door and starts the car. There is no key reader in the door lock cylinder. So, you should be fine with a valet key or another main key without fob.

Depending on where in the world you are, the car should of been sold new with two flip-out keys. If the car beeps when locking & unlocking then you may have a alarm fitted, if so you will need to check if it needs the remote to operate or just a chipped key.

Thanks for the responses. I bought the car as non-certified from a local dealer. So only one key. I assume that if I "FOB lock" the car and then attempt to use the key that should tell me if a striaght chipped key would work.

On my car I cut an extra key from a key blank. It is only a key, no electrical fob crap. With this extra key, i can unlock, lock the doors by turning the key to right or left, when inserted on the drivers door, but can't start the car with it. It does fit in ignition and turns the dash lights on.
My car is 2006 Mazda 6. Hope this helps.
