alright, the brakes/calipers aren't as bad as i thought... but i found a feature that to me is useless. there are two screws on eat rotor that i believe are used only for the mazda manufacturing line. they truly do nothing, in fact, i believe that you don't even have to put them back in if you decide to take them off.

Here is a good discussion of the screws that I think the_gray_mazda6 is talking about:

RE: taking off brake calipers/brakes...
They are not essential to reiinstall. They are used by the factory to keep the rotors from falling off on the assembly line untill the wheels/tires are installed. They do however keep the rotor tight onto the hubs when wheel is removed for brake check or rotation so that you do not get dirt or small pebbles trapped between rotor and hub that would cause brake pulsation. Link below to same problem for rear rotors on a 929 in that section.

these bolts unfortunately are a pain in the rear-end. for whatever reason, my buddy easily stripped his bolts while using a big enough screw driver to take them out. might be considering buying a few spare bolts for these rotors incase something like that happens to me and such.

Seriously...I've done so many brake jobs it makes my head spin, and I had never seen bolts like that. I wouldn't worry about putting them back in. (I'm definitely not looking forward to doing the brakes on my wife's 6 now.....)
