ticking noise in engine compartment

RE: ticking noise in engine compartment
My 2005 6s has the same problem/issue. It only makes the noise when the engine is warm, like after driving for at least 15 minutes. The car is almost brand new (just over 1000 miles) and has made the noise since I had the EGR valve fixed the day after I bought the car. There is a TSB on this issue http://www.finishlineperformance.com.../docs/0010.pdf. I had this done and the noise remained. Then I took the car in again and they unhooked the emissions systems and the noise went away. He told me that it is a solenoid functioning normally and that I can hear it because it is located right behind the firewall on the passenger side. I will get it looked at again when I get my first oil change at 1500 miles at another dealership.
From all of this you may think that I hate the car, but I love it!!!! After years of 4 cyl. Honda Accords the 6 is great!!

The owner's manual (more like a bible - thick , but should be used as one also) says in it that using a higher octane could damage the internals of the engine .... as well as fuel additives and cleaners .... and other kinds of fuel . Abide by it , is your choice .... but I would surely not go higher than 89 octane , reluctantly .
As far as clicking / pinging ... at 500 so kilometers I have none of these and don't look forward to have it talking balk to me in pain !
I am although hearing .... lately I don't recall , but I have heard it on more than a couple occasions clicking when the engine is shut off and when running , I guess hot (long ride) ..... a sound like you would hear the metal parts expanding and retracting whatever .... you know what I mean .... anyways it's my conclusions with that noise .... I'll pay more attention in the futur with that .
Oh yeah , also the owner's manual mentions that it is possible to hear the fuel pump , but that's from the rear .... when you turn on the ignition ...
I'm probably a third (1/3) through the manual , so ....

yeah, once i get my cold air intake, i wont even be able to hear the pinging noise anymore so that is when i will go back to using 87 octane gas. I dont believe bumping up 2 octanes levels will harm my engine, it is just a risk that the company has to deal with because some people may put 90+ octane in an engine thinking that it will performa better or something. who knows? haha
