Doesn't the 6 use a timing chain rather than a belt? Virtually all manufacturers reccomend changing the timing belt at 60,000 miles, but timing chains are stronger and go for longer periods before needing replacement. Consult your owner's manual.

Mazda6s and 6i use timing chain not timing belt. You could check mazdausa.com.

Your timing is indeed chain-driven. Cheers,

If you look, when you are changing your oil you can see the timing chain. It is the only chain in your engine, and part of it is visible from the oil fill cap.

It'll handle a lot more miles! You're fine at this point.

Timing belts typically last around 100,000 miles or more. The thing is that while timing chains are more durable, they are also more expensive to replace (you have to change the gears too). See herefor more information.
