Default Tranny cooler?

I have heard the transmission cooler may increase the life of the transmission. I have a 2005 Mazda 6, 2.3 I4, Automatic Transmission. I have heard that the 03 and 04 ATX had alot of problems. Should I invest in the tranny cooler? In addition, how much do they cost!

At 5,000 miles I notice that sometimes mainly when I just start driving the Transmission does something quite strange. Betwee 1st and 2nd gear it almost locks up or something like that. Im not a mechanic. When it finally switches to second I can hear a thump sound. I can even feel the rear of the car almost shake for a split second. Is this something to worry about. It mainly does it during the first 5 minutes of driving.

Other then that I love this car. It is so smooth and handles so nicely. I wish it had more power. But I cant complain. By the way, if you get a air intake dont get a AEM short ram intake. I got one, and had all sorts of problems. I had a certified mechanic install it, and my engine light never would come off. So now im back to stock. Dammit! I need a computer performance chip. Can't wait untill they make one!

A transmission oil cooler is always a good idea on a car with an automatic transmission. Overheated oil is by far the largest cause of failure to a transmission. Regarding the cold 1-2 shift concern you have. There is a fairly new released bulletin from Mazda that entails an updated calibration change for your Transmission Control Module that is designed to help with shift shock when cold and during warm-up. A trip to the dealer with your 1-2 shift shock complaint should get this recalibration done and see how it feels after that. As to you AEM intake. Was any certain code set as should have been and if so what? Did the light come on and was reset and returned on again or just never went out?

AEM Intake. No we did not input any codes. The first time we installed it, the car ran horrible. Then we reinstalled it, and it ran perfect for a day then the engine light came on. It still ran fine. I wasnt impressed with the amount of power it was giving me anyways. So I just returned it. I had a K and N intake for my 2001 B series truck and had no problems with it. I bolted it on myself and it was good to go. So Im thinking of getting the K and N intake. I guess you get what you pay for.

my suggestion is do more fluid change on your tranny.

i had a 99 accord v6 and suppostly honda were and are having tranny problems with the v6 tranny. a lot of my friends and people i know with v6 accord have tranny problems. and their car is stock.

i had comptech supercharger and i drive my car hard. i swithch gears and still no problems with the tranny. the reason is that i change my fluid very often. you guys should do too.

for my accord i change every 10,000 miles

for my s2000 i change my oil every 2500 miles and tranny fluid around 10,000 same as the accord. if i race more i'll change more.

you are suppose to change your tranny fluid as often as the oil change because your tranny fluid doesn't flow around as much as the

engline oil. therefor the tranny fluid sit and do nothing. i got this tip from the Best Motoring Video and it works will for me and i think it

it's true. hopefully you understand what i'm saying.

Thanks for the relpy about my Mazda 6 transmission question. Is this
shift shock deal something I should be worried about? Is it a mechanical
problem or is it just a matter of changing a computer code or something
? I will do anything to make sure I get alot of miles out of this car.
Thanks.
