Useing the Triptronic auto manual trany.

What are some recamendations as to when you should shift to recive the best acceleration, say merging ontoa fast paced Highway?

And does useing this semi-manual feature increase or decrease your fuel ecconomy at all?

If anyone has read anything on this or has real life experience and data it would be greatly appretianted. Thanks

Using the manual shifting wouldn't increase/decrease your mileage, although if you are waiting until high in the rpms to shift, you're surely burning more fuel.

I want to say the 2.3L achieves peak power around 5500 rpm, so a shift right about then (or a hair before to adjust for the shift time of the tranny) would probably yield your best acceleration.

FYI...she's no rocketship, but with the 4-cyl, you should get good mileage.

I know it seems wrong, but I tend to "think" I get better gas mileage when I drive in manual rather then automatic.
