RE: Unichip
It is very simple, the PnP harness has 2 swithes attached that let you switch back and forth between the two. Also there is a switch to reset the ECU once a CEL is thrown so the light goes off. But it will come back on if the unichip is left on the aggressive mapping mode.
I have also learned that using the aggressive map, only throws the CEL when revs go over 6000rpm.
Which for me is on a daily basis.

RE: Unichip
Now that I have had the chip installed for awhile, I am noticing more subtleties. Like that around 4000rpm I get a big surge in power. I notice more torque steer. Also I could be just imagining this but it almost feels like there is a loss in power from 2000-3000rpm. That's all for now.

RE: Unichip
Where did you get this chip?? I wonder if they have a model for the Mazda 3
As for your loss in power, most performance mods like the CAI can decrease the low end torque but increase the high end torque. I bet this is what the chip is doing.

RE: Unichip
I bought this chip from www.autoanything.com they had the best deal I could find anywhere, and they give you different customization options to have the chip preset for your own cars' modifications.
Not sure if there is a chip for the 2.3 yet.
The company website is www.unichip.us

RE: Unichip
Yes it can. It will raise the rev limiter and remove the speed limiter, but only if you take it to a unichip tuner, which will cost you anywhere from $75.00-$500.00. Everywhere I called wanted around $450.00. But I found a guy in NC that would do it for $75 but that is only b/c he doesn't have a DYNO yet, but he is licensed as a unichip dealer and tuner.

RE: Unichip
they don't sell it that way? the one you purchased/installed didn't do it out of the box, but WAS designed for the 6? just wanted to clearify, just doesn't make sense to me. As in, you can't pass the 120 mark with your setup?

RE: Unichip
I spoke with UNICHIP directly, and apparently itwould open them up to law suitsto mass produce a device that removes the speed govenor directly from the factory. To have the governer removed it has to be taken to a UNICHIP tuner.
No I can't pass the 120mph mark with my setup, I plan on making a trip to NC to get the governor removed as soon as I get a day off, I work 7 days a week.

RE: Unichip
it's currenlty still the only option out there for the v6. but for the 4cyl guys, for the price you can pretty much get a Haltech F10x and remove the gov along with get more power with some fuel tuning.
thanks for clearing that up Stealth
