Default Upgraded my Sound System

I have a 2018 Mazda 6 Sport with MT.

I love my car but I wish it had (1) fog lights... I know it does kind of (2) sun roof (3) an eight way adjustable seat.

The seat is super comfy but can it be more comfortable if I had a eight way? We will never know.

I did upgrade my sound system... I am surprised that I did not find any threads about this.

I installed a 4 channel Amp pushing my front speakers (installed 3 way speakers... 6.5"/4" and tweeters), I installed a sub amp and a 12" sub, I also installed LCQ-1 by sound audio. The rear speakers are being powered by the radio.

The outcome is WOW WOW WOW.

The components that I installed were my 17 year old Boston Acoustics 653, I had to buy a amp (got a kicker amp four channel... there newest model), Alpine MDRM500 (17 year old AMP) and my 12" JL W3 (also 17 years old). And I needed to get something cause I kept the stock radio... hence the LCQ-1. I had Best buy install everything and I am VERY VERY HAPPY. Definitely the best investment I have made in a VERY long time.

I'm running Alpine type R components in the front doors, standard Type R in the back doors, running off a 4CH Sony amp, plus 12" Sony Sub & 1CH Sony amp in the boot. All running off the factory head unit via a Audiocontrol LC6i convertor.

COOL!!!

I was going to go with the LC6i but I was told that I would get better sound with the LCQ1 (which I am a total believer right now). The LCQ1 has a eight channel equalizer that really helps. I also got the ARC-2 sub **** to go with it.

My speakers originally sold for $1300.00... I got them on a super clearance when a local chain went bankrupt in 2007 for $200 (and they were never installed until a few weeks ago . They are boston acoustic 6.5.3. They are the only speaker that I know that can be wired as a four chanel... so I have like 175 RMS pushing the 6.5" speakers and 175 watts RMS pushing the 4" and tweeters. I am a bit upset that my old JL 300.4 amp had water damage and I had to buy a kicker AMP from BestBuy. But the LCQ1 really boosted the sound quality of the speakers... very dramatic.

I use to believe that you needed a very good quality 4 channel amp... now I don't know how true that is. The JL amp today retails for about $650.00 and the Kicker AMP retails today for $199 and the sound is amazing (again, that is with the LCQ1).

I used BestBuy for the install. Got the total tec package (all labor was $199.99) Besides my system, we installed a double din deck and a backup cameral on my wife's subaru forester and I just got a radar detector and will get Bestbuy to hardwire it in my car and I also got a rear view mirror mount. All labor for everything was $199.99; They did charge me $80.00 more to remove my car seats and mount the crossovers for my front speakers... they were that big, they did not fit in the door ...lol.

I think my system is a BEAsT... but I only have one 12" sub... I personally don't need more. I rarely max out the bass as it is even when I play rap or hip hop. When I play with the sub maxed out I found it a little to much.

Anyways I love my car and love my system right now. Glad to see someone else has done this.

Regardless of how happy I am, any system upgrade like the one you have done probably is amazing.
