I was thinking about making my center console look like the stock face of the radio that is on the 06. The black plastic. I think it would look really good. Their probaly is not but has anyone heard of someone doing it. I know their is not a whole lot of things out and options are limited but if anyone has any ideas please help.

Its just the regular matte black. The stock. I was just thinking to myself that I think it would look good if it looked like the front of the radio all the way up and down to the cup holders.

 

Are you talking the cupholder and ashtray panel? Those should already be 2-toned silver/black (silver down the sides on the raised edges of the trim panel.) I should know, I put them into production. Could you post a pic?

 

Yah i will post a pic when I get home. If you are familar with the 06 stock radio housing being a black shiny plastic and then the matte black around it with the silver. Its the radio panel that I would like to make everything match
but I will take some pics tonight

I would think that you can just put multipe coats of clearcoat over the current finish to get it to shine up (Currently there is no clearcoat on either the silver or matte black portions of the radio faceplate/ashtray/cupholder bezels.)

 

Yah that may work. If it does not work out guess I can buy a new one lol but i think that will be a good idea

 

I'd say the cheapest panel to replace would be the ashtray panel if you're going to choose a guinea pig for the project. (no mechanisms and only 1 pc.)

Or you could mask off the silver portions and hit all of the black portions with gloss black, then clearcoat.
