I had to take off aftermarket engine splash pan.
It was not made for the V6, as I drove it would press against the exhaust. Not good having the smell of melting plastic as you drive.
But...I guess it was better than the smell of burning plastic!

the misses heard some GRINDING in the rear so took the wheels off and dropped them off at the tire store.one pad was to metal.went ahead and bought 2 rotors (25 for new or 12 to turn)BUT got home and had one front rotor and one rear.went back and they didnt have another one so turned one of the other ones.milage is 75,000 and probably were the original pads. i bought a new wheel cause i hit a pot hole and put a crack the whole way across the inside of the wheel which really pissed me off but after i got the new wheel and washed and waxed the car, i looked at it and seen how good it looked all cleaned up and waxed. my anger turned into excitement and i had to take the car to a private area where i made stickies all over the back bumper. i love mazdas

Got my tires balanced...again!

Only took SIX visits to the shop and I thought $40 for mount/balance was a good deal.
1, Tires mounted and balanced, have a shimmy
2, Told owner of problem, he said come back on Tuesday
3, Tuesday short of help, was told come back on Wednesday
4, Wednesday, to busy, told come back on Thursday
5, Thursday, told backs ok, rebalanced fronts only
6, Thursday, (noticed no finger prints on back wheels) back again to balance backs
Now, 70+ mph...perfect.

My next project painting the two filled holes where I debadged the car. Got to find some Volcanic red touch up paint.

Put on a pair of generic mud flaps on the rear only. Wasn't sure they would look ok but they are plain black and look fine.

Detailed the engine bay...looks great.
Mostly used a spray pump bottle with soapy water mix and a long nap soft brush. Rinse with plain water spray pump bottle and rags to dry and polish up. I'm not a big fan of using a garden hose under the hood. Did use the hose but not near the top on the engine to avoid water in the spark plug wells.
Still have to do clay and wax to the exterior to finish up spring cleaning.

ANYONE else do anything to a 6 recently?

Doing more work in the engine bay.
Painting engine cover(V6) and some other covers to match exterior color. Looking good, still have some detail work to do on the covers. I want the bay to look "dressed up" but not over done. To much paint and dress up parts can make under the hood, look like a Fisher Price toy.
