What tires to get?

What tires to get?
My newly bought 6's original tires are almost bald and I need to think about getitng new ones. I see that the Michelin's are $200/piece. Now this doesn't phase me too much because the Mazda is replacing an '03Mustang Cobra that required 305/35/18s = $300/piece. Even then the tires wouldn't stick
However, the concensus is the OEM tires suck.I would like to have a tire that lasts me at least a year (about 16k miles) and rides quiet. I don't want to skimp on them since softer rubber = better braking...not just cornering.
So anybody try out different tires and figure what is best? Thanks!

RE: What tires to get?
well im in need of new tires too and i had my tire guy look up tires for me. the michellen pilots on it now are pretty much one of the best tires on the roadbut @ $288 a piece im not going to be putting them back on it. i was looking at falken and general. i hear that the new general acclaims were voted best all aroundtire on tirerack.com my girlfriend has them on her jetta and she said they feel bettern then the hankook's she had on it before. they have an agressive tread pattern too. i think im going to go for them. its funny tho, i can get all 4 generals for about 20 bucks more then one michellen pilot haha....
oh and i too am a mustang guy lol i saw your other post about the interior. i own a 67 coupe.

I currently have the general acclaim UHP and I love them! Definitely way better than stock and for the price, they are great. It also depends on if you want an all-season tire or what not. The ones I got are summer tires, so if you are just looking for summer tires, I highly suggest the general acclaim uhp.

i'm a huge fan of the Falken ZX512's. Unfortunately they have been replaced by a non directional tire in the falken lineup, but as for their ability to hold the road and as a pricepoint, they can't be beat. Believe it or not, Kumho has a couple nice touring tires too though i've never had the Kumho's (or Sumitomo) on a sedan, just a little Neon coupe.
Just remember that when comparing tires, TireRack.com is your friend. Many local merchants will pricematch to tirerack (shipped price) and this constitutes a good deal for you. NTB, Sears, Big-O are three tire stores I know of right off that pricematch.
