Question Whats the Difference in 2010 headlight vs 2011 headlight assemblies?

I need to replace my headlights (Halogen type) on my 2010 Mazda 6i. I found a pair I would like to purchase but noticed the years are specific to 2009 - 2010 for one assembly and 2011 - 2012 for another assembly. Of course the price difference is a little of $200 (for the pair) for the 2011 - 2012 being the cheaper version. Comparing the pictures it looks like the mounts are exactly the same and bolt patterns are the same. My question is does anyone know what the difference is? Has anyone had any problems changing out the headlights thats not year specific? If it can save me $200 to order a 2011 vs 2010 I'm all over it. The only difference I can see is where the High-beam light projection configuration might be different as far as whats inside the lens and not how the bulb itself "snaps" in. Thanks for anyone's help

2009-2010 will be pre facelift, 2011-2012 will be facelift.

They may of changed to shape slightly.

Ring some Mazda Wreckers and ask them if a 2011/2012 light will fit a 2010.

Have a look at this website for genuine parts.

Hey Grim Reaper, Thanks for responding. I was curious, when you said "face lift" I had to see what you might be referring to. So seeing your from Australia I had to see what the differences are in in the year models for Mazda 6 and I have to say the 2010 Mazda 6 in Australia is pretty cool looking as far as the difference in the way the fog lights look, I like it. We don't have that option here in the U.S. From 2009 - 2013, the front is all pretty much looks the same which is what has me confused on what the differences are. I phoned a few salvage yards and the basic answer I got is I can try and if it don't work I can return it and so on.... I may just go ahead and purchase a set if I'm able to return them if they don't work if the store's policy for returns is OK. The Mazda parts site you referred me to looks like a good source, thanks!

This is exact look of my car, color and all for a 2010:

I believe I finally have my answer, the only difference is the wire harness connection for the turn signal, other than that the mounts and configuration is the same.

Was there anything special you had to do to get the headlights to work? I'm facing having to replace mine on our 2010. They 2010 are nearly double the cost of the 2011 headlight assembly.
