Window clicking...

Window clicking...
I know this sounds really weird but when I drive my '05 Mazda 6s with my window down like 3 inches or so, enough to smoke a cigg, my window makes a clicking sound. At first I thought somehow my seat belt was hitting the window, it finally got on my nervous enough that I pulled over and looked all around my window and nothing seemed weird. It has been doing it for a few weeks now and it is driving me inscane! Sometimes if I roll my window down and then roll it back up to where I want it, it will stop clicking but now it just clicks all the time.

Does the clicking noise stop if you push on the window? You might have loose window regulator to window mounting bolts. Have not had one making that noise while driving but do not ususally drive with window down that way. Have had several 6's in that make a click noise when is rolled up and reaches the top of its travel that was due to those bolts being loose. Have your dealer check it out.

the clicking noise used to stop if I rolled the wondow down all the way and then rolled it back up to where I wanted it. Now the only way that it will stop is if the wondow is rolled up completely. It doesn't stop when I push on it, mostly it just clicks while I'm driving and I got over small bumps in the road. I guess I will just have to have it checked out by the dealer. I really just don't want them to rip my door panel off to get to it.

yeah lol the clicking drives me nuts and I guess it really does make me want to smoke more LOL I think that after I get off work and here the clicking of a keyboard I don't want to hear it anymore! But I put up with it cause it's way to cold here in Maryland to roll my window the whole way down. Off to the dealer...

RE: Window clicking...
i thought i was crazy too! man i have the same problem with my '05 6i ATX. same thing, at first i thought it was my safe belt tapping against the driver door or rear driver side passenger (behind driver). i couldnt tell where is was coming from at first but later realized its from the driver side. when i roll it down a crack it starts to "click" if you will... more like a low tapping noise. i think it sounds like a loose nut or bolt inside the door panel. when rolled down all the way or up all the way, no noise. but when cracked a bit it kinda sounds like the window is loose and tapping against the rail or inside panel.
i tried to diagnose the problem from just looking at it and pushing the window and pressing up against it and it would sorta stop. i honestly think its the window that's loose. anyone know if its hard to fix this? it might well be the regulator like you one of you said... is ithard to get to it? i mean, i've removed the door panel itself before, but do i have to remove the black plastic under the door panel to get to the regulator?

RE: Window clicking...
but do you know if its for an '05 6i? hmmm... maybe i should just call and check it out. funny thing is, i actually just got my car serviced maybe 2-3 weeks ago and first thing he checked was to see if there wereany recalls for my car and he didnt see any...
hope there is though, if not, i dontthink it should be that hard to remove my door panel and check the regulator. i've replaced one on my 92 accord before. i dont think tightening a screw ortwo (hopefullythatsall it is) will be that difficult.
