Exclamation blown engine (please help)

Hey guys.

I just bought a 2006 mazda 3 hatchback. On my first long trip with the car I blew a hole in the engine. I wasn't speeding or anything. after I got it towed back to my place, I got underneath it only to find lots of spilled oil, chunks of metal from the engine block, and a huge hole in the side of my engine. Needless to say, I am heartbroken.

All other parts of the car work fine, I just need a new 2.3L engine block. Does anyone know where I can get one for cheap? I live in Austin, Texas.

Also, is it possible to buy an engine block from a speed3 and transplant my stock internals into it?

Please help me get my car back up and running so that I can zoom zoom again.

Sounds like you at least need a complete short block. For you block to have a hole in it something internally broke. (Piston Rod, Wrist Pin) It would be more cost effective to get a short or long block depending on the damage. I could price it out for you but I have to many options to choose from with a VIN.

Default Blown engine something like blownengine94

My daughter has a 2.3L 2003 Mazda 3 that is making strange noises. We suspect the engine is knocking. Couple of questions, Pretty straight forward to install a 2.0L engine or do we have to stick with the 2.3L?

The 2.3L motors have timing chain issues. Your sound could be coming from there. get it checked out before you assume it is a motor.

Could it sound like a knock if it was the timing chain? This engine has a knocking sound.

I've also noticed that the 2.0L engines are more abundant and less expensive than the 2.3L. That's why I was asking whether I could swap in the 2,0L without a ton of mods.

It can sound like a knock if there is a problem with the VVT Actuator. That can make a knocking sound.
