Default Bose Stereo System Playing Up - 2010 Mazda 6 Sporthatch

A number of months ago I started getting a crackling sound in what appeared to be the front passenger door speaker. At the same time, the sound quality for bluetooth handsfree calls went downhill to a point I stopped using bluetooth for phone calls. I've noticed a gentle amount of whine creeping into the mix over recent months. Have adjusted balance to eliminate the passenger side speakers and this worked around the issue, as the cost of sound quality.

In the past few weeks I have been getting crackling and popping through all the front speakers. I have removed the tweeters as there has been an earspliting wine coming through them, even when the stereo is turned off. There is some incredibly loud random beeps coming through the system which has been a bit odd. Even with the stereo off, there has been a lot of noise coming out the speakers, so I have removed the fuse.

It's all quite peaceful now, but I suspect the amp may have gone kaput.

I'm thinking the key to the issue lies inside the fact I'm getting noise through the speakers when the system is supposedly turned off. Appreciate any thoughts before I start pulling things apart.
