continuing probs with 2004 Mazda6
it started in Sept when the car sounded as if it was in complete agony; moaning and groanin at every curve and bump. The shop replaced the leak pump detection pump, lower torque strut mount, left upper transmission mount and the right front upper mototr mount. The alternator was replaced.
It sounded and drove like a new car! Until 9 days later when it totally died. A rebuit starter was put in.
One month later the dash lights were blinking like we were signaling aliens and all the needles were going a mile a minute before it died...again.
This time we were told the battery voltage was low and the alternator was defective. Replaced that and repaired the alternator pigtail.
Within 5 days the car began to cut off while stopped, at an idle or just in regular in-town driving. The gauges were sweeping and the dash lights were again signaling aliens. This time the Mazda dealer took a look.
Mazda said the throttle body had carbon build up, the PCM needed recalibrating, the alternator was only intermittently charging and the "new" alternator had a broken terminal.
20 days later it was back at the dealer since the security light had begun flashing and it still occassionally, randomly shut off. They could not duplicate the problems. But yet the security light is now off.
I switched cars with my daughter since she said it was still cutting off. I have driven it for 4 days now and it has done the same thing on three separate occasions. The first two times I was going about 50 and felt and heard the engine losing power. I pushed hard on the gas and, with a slight jerk the car took off again. Today, while in a parking lot it stopped. I put it in neutral and restarted it with no prob. Not more than 5 yards later it did the same thing and I again restarted it without any further troubles. 45 minutes later, while in another lot...again with the stopping. After restarting it three times, I finally put the car in park, removed the key from the ignition and had no more probs.
I would really love it if someone could give a solution. After today though I'm starting to think of replacing the ignition 'cause I think everything else has been done.
Sorry to go so long but felt the whole story was important.

This car has minimal ground wiring and poor grounds. Buy some ground wires. Ground the following from your negative terminal: Engine Block, Throttle Body, Car Body and Transmission. There is a real bad ground in front of driver side wheel area under stock air box-----needs to be cut back then extend wires to where Battery Hold down bolts are-----you should put your body ground here close to stock ground----redo stock ground there. You may need a new battery as well.
