Default Hello all!

Just picked up a 2009 Mazda6 i SV last night and when I was searching around online trying to get a question answered I happened upon this site and decided to give y'all a try.

Hi Kelly and congrats on the new ride. Welcome to MazdaForum too.... but I only see one post so far. What is/was your question?
Also, could you have meant a VE, for Value Edition?

That might be correct, I just know that's what the dealership has it tagged as. I was looking to see if it was originally equipped with keyless entry(found out it wasn't)and if I could reprogram the welcome screen to say anything other than welcome?

How is that? I was sure that all 6 series cars were so equipped from the factory? Power windows and locks (keyless entry) on the two that I drove.
Now I know the VE has a power driver's seat that other lesser models do not have.... and I believe the auto trans was a std on that trim level too, as was the 4-cyl 2.3L engine.

Well it has power windows/locks but there was no keyless entry with the car when purchased and when I was searching around blindly in Google I thought I had read that it wasn't equipped with it either. I plan on going to my local Mazda dealer and having them run the VIN to get a list of what was originally on the car so I can determine if it simply was not originally equipped with keyless entry or if the remotes were simply lost.

I also don't have the automatic transmission I have the 6spd manual transmission and no power drivers seat. To do the height adjustment there is a lever to pump to raise or lower the seat and to adjust it forward or back you pull a lever and then slide it into position.

It might have been a lease vehicle, or a repo but it shold have a flip-key w/the remote.

I originally missed the fact that you have an '09, so it is probably not a VE which was a trim level offered in the 1st gen 6 series.

So I called the dealership today and asked that they run my VIN to confirm the car had keyless entry and they said that my specific car did not. Not sure if the guy really knew what he was doing because I had to explain what I wanted 3 times before he understood. I also heard someone in the background coaching him on how to do what I asked. Needless to say I'm a bit frustrated with them. Especially because I asked about any installation services they might have to where I could have them install keyless entry for me and the guy simply said "We can't do that. Try aftermarket." Ideas? Aftermarket keyless entry is pretty cheap but I would have preferred something done by the manufacturer.
