Hi... I am in love with the RX8!! I have put a deposit on one ...scared to commit because so many people tell me it is not a reliable car and that it may not start, rotary engine not good etc etc...... I really need to hear pro RX8 PLEASE!!!

I found today that there is Factory warranty on rotary engine for 96months/160000 km...which put my mind at ease......but.....ahhhhhhhh still worried!

There is no reason to hate the RX-8. Yes it is different in many ways to other vehicles out there. They do require some special attention and do not get the best fuel mileage, but if you have researched this and are willing to put into it what you will no doubt get back out, then I say go for it!!

I agree with Virgin1. Enjoy your Rx8. I plan on making that my next car, my only problem is teaching my wife to drive stick, hopefully she learns I hate having an automatic!!

In your experience - what should I be worring about and how, if I get this car, do I do things differently then with another type of car? sorry for all the questions... my decision time has a close deadline...I am freaking out\!! lol Driving a rental cuz my Toyota MR2 just died ( after 18 yrs of great driving!)

No pics .. but it is a clean 2005, 58000km...looks brand new, $17900 canadian, just off lease, no accidents.... mechanic checked it ... was fine with it .... what a stressful time!!

Rotary's, and sports cars in general, are a different bred than other "normal" cars.
Rotary engines use oil. This is normal and you must check the oil on a regular basis, every fill up.
They also require premium fuel. IIRC 91 octane is minimum.
Flooding was a problem with the carburetted engines. I don't know about any problems since fuel injection became the norm, but they do require clean, properly working injectors. I understand they are sensitive to this more so than piston engine cars are.
Like all rotary's, the B13 is a bit of a gas hog (expect 17-20mpg) and does not have the torque piston engines of the same hp rating will have. But, once under power, the engine will pull strong from <2k rpm all the way to redline (9500?)

I have been reading so many reviews.... very confusing!!! some say no probs... others LOTS of problems!! flooding seems to be a big one....or not starting! man... I m so scared to to it yet I am so drawn to the car!! cant wait til this is over.. one way or the other!! lol

I'm sure it will all work out in the end. You seem like the kind of person that appreciates a true sports car and can live with one, like others I know that feel naked w/o a convertible. As long as you don't expect automotive perfection, of which there is none, you'll be fine.
