Default Hola B*tch-ola! New kid from WA

Sorry for the semi-inappropiate title. It's a motto for one of the radio stations I listen to everyday. Haha

Anyways, I'm a 14 yr old out of Washington State (Centralia). Bought my first Mazda. But this isn't my first car. It's my third.

~ I like the Hellaflush look. So one day it will sit like this;

Anyways, if you wondering why this is my third car...

Dad was going through his midlife crisis. He wanted us to have a Father-Son Project, so he got a late 1960's Camaro R/S. Never finished.

I had a 1989 Civic Hatchback, hated it and wanted a drifter.

Now I have a drifter lol

See you guys around the forums!

14!!! Three cars??? Well, as a life-long gearhead myself I'd say, 1) You're not wasting any time. And 2) You must be the luckiest SOB in Wash State!!

Welcome and Congrats!! Nice looking FC, even as it sits now!! I like the white on white look, but know that if I did it, the wheels would be dirty 90% of the time, so I chose gray/graphite wheels for mine.

Besides the "hella' flush" look, what are your other plans for it?

If you have questions, our Moderator known as Mazmart Trini has a LOT of experience with the 7 series cars. He can probably answer any question you may have.

Sorry for a late reply. Kinda busy finding a new home :/..

Anyways, my plans are to slap in a 20B and Twin Turbo it or build a custom 4 Rotor like "Mad Mikes" Red Bull RX-7. I always drag myself into restoring things from the ground up. Even if I don't want to. Haha

Might paint it an OEM Blue with different more Deep Dish wheels from Volk. These;

Lower it on Coilovers, and put Strut Bars in to help the suspension plus Race Seats.

If a 20B or 4 Rotor doesn't work out, probably putting a 305 in it like some people put V8's in

Also one quesiton, are the S4 Gearboxes known for having problems? Drove my FC around and couldn't get it out of 2nd and into 3rd. Plus it grinds in the process going to 3rd.

Previous owner said it's a bushing. Dad says its the shifter. Either way, it's gettin rebuilt. haha

You sure you're only 14? I mean, they didn't switch birth certificates on you with your younger brother, did they?
You seem to have aquired quite a knowledge base all ready, and at that age??? I was working on cars at your age, but really had little idea of what I was doing, short of "helping" one of the older guys swap out a transmission or engine.

If a bearing or bushing I would think the problem obvious in all gears on the lay shaft... 2nd, 3rd and 4th? Do you hear a whine in any/all of those gears?
On the other hand, if the pilot bearing is bad that can cause the input shaft to hang up the clutch and cause some pretty weird issues with the clutch pedal depressed.
Hard to say, really. Your Dad might be right too, but I'd want to know what noises you are hearing first.
As for the strength of or isses with that trans, I am not the right guy to ask. As I said, Mazmart Trini is our current rotorhead expert.

I'll message him. And I'm an only child . I've loved things on wheels and with motors forever. I've only been studying on Japanese cars for about a year and a half and I know my way around Honda's.. ALOT.. and I'm starting to figure out the tempermental RX7's.

Only sound it makes is it grinding and the engine goes into a high rev and lowers down quickly. Or maybe it was my fault for the engine high reving. Haha.

The clutch slave was rebuilt by the previous owner. He said after it was rebuilt, he couldn't get it into any gears. Then be bleeded it and it worked fine. Except for the problem we're discussing.

Anyways, I'll stop talking about it since you said to message the other moderator instead.

It sounds like the previous owner may have driven it for a while w/o the clutch properly bled and was forcing gears... in which case the sycros may have been damaged.
And I only suggested you message "Trini" because you could get more info in depth from him. I can only be general about it, not knowing the specifics of the trans. I'll still try to answer any questions I can you may have about it, and am certainly looking forward to following your build.
Keep on posting, Buddy!!
