Default Impressed with Mazda!

I have been meaning to post to one of these forums for a while, but never have the time. Anyway, I just wanted to send kudos to Mazda for making an incredible product.
My wife has had a used 1987 RX 7 since she was in high school. She is now 33. The car has over 325,000 miles on it and has little work done on it. We have been married for 4 years and dated 3 years before that and in that time we have bought her a Lexus, an Acura and a Lincoln. But she will not part with her old RX7 and actually prefers to drive it the most.

But my wife doesn't drive like a normal woman. She beats the living p**s out of the engine every single time she drives it. Sometimes she knows she is doing it, and sometimes, it is just natural so she seems oblivious. She redlines it at every shift, and usually maintains it at the redline for an extended period of time. She has never routinely changed the oil. It currently is about 9,000 miles since the last change. I have actually felt sorry for the old engine at times. Countless times, she will bring it to the redline and drive that way for miles and miles. Knowing the engine is old and whipped, I would ask her to shift and she just laughs and says " heck no, I can't go easy on it now!". I have never seen an engine endure this amount of abuse for such a long period of time and not have major issues. The only big repair she had done, was some wiring had melted after she let it idle for several hours in > 100 degree heat.

It is only now showing is age and abuse. It is losing compression, burns about two quarts of oil every 10,000 miles or so, and certainly doesn't have that peppy power that it used to. Even the rev limiter doesn't seem to work anymore, which she really likes because now she over revs it all the time. So now she has even less mercy on it! Last night she had the tach at 8k for probably six miles. Unbelievable. Lesser engines could not take this!
But, anyway, the reason for the post is to say that I am amazed at the Mazda engine and will consider it for future purchases!

Pics below show my wife and just a few examples of how hard she is on engines:
1- My wife at work
2- My wife laughing at me posting this and laughing about the RX7's engine
3- Her posing in front of a boat engine she kept over- revving with no prop on it until it blew hard
4- Laughing her *** off at it
5- My wife taking pics of a Mitsubishi engine she and her girl friend blew and caught on fire

Unfortunately the rotary engine is no longer be available in cars. Production supposedly just finished.

However, found this article:
There must’ve been around 1 million pieces of news about the Mazda rotary engine being gone for good, but it seems that the spectacular engine is set to make a comeback after all. Mazda is preparing to bring back rotary power thanks to a new tech development that will allow the powerplant to leave its traditional issues with efficiency and long-term reliability behind.
The carmaker’s General Manager of Powertrain Development, Mitsuo Mitomi, has revealed that Mazda wants to finish the development of a rotary unit that meets future fuel efficiency and emissions standards.
We think we’ve found a way to improve the rotary’s fuel economy to be truly equal to that of conventional piston engines and, if so, we believe we can reintroduce the rotary to the market,” Hitomi recently told Ward’s Auto.
To be more specific, the most important technological breakthrough is a modification in the shape of the troichoid housing that will allow the seals to remain flush to the housing, which will bring superior performance, as well as better fuel efficiency. Thus, the carmaker wants to solve the sealing issue that has haunted the rotary engine since its inception.
In addition to that, the auto automaker also wants to enhance the ingintion of the new engine, but didn’t offer details on that.
