Im getting ready to do a motor swap and I'm pretty set on a 2.3 out of a mazda 3. I'm just curious what kind of transmission could i use for rwd application. It will be an unconventional swap. Its going in a mazda b2300. Not exactly a mazda but I want it to be as mich as possible. Any advice is appreciated.
And im going for junk yard motor and trans. I intend to refresh both when I get it

 

Don't do it! The 2.3 liter Mazda motor is a steaming pile of crap. Much better if you went with that engine's Ford clone, the 2.5 liter Duratech. The 2.5 has some very important internal upgrades which make the engine more powerful, but also more reliable.
