mx3 accelleration problems
Hello everyone
I just bought a used 92 mx3 basic model and the accelleration is poor. I checked the spark plugs and they are new so that can't be the problem. Somebody thought they heard something rubbing on my front right tire but I could not find anything touching. I noticed that when I am in first gear around 2500rpm, when I take my foot off the gas the rpm meter intially drops suddenly, as well as the speed (the car gets jumpy), then it will eventallysettle and slows down normally. There isnext to nothing foraccleration in 5th gear around 100 kph, I have to put the "peddle to the metal" and very slowly crawl up to 120 kph on the highway. The enginesounds great and the car appears to be well maintained. I don't know much about cars, but I would like to check to see if the emergency brake is rubbing, unfortunatley I can't find which wheel the e-brakeis hooked up too. I would appereciate any feedback regarding this matter. I am having a hard time finding a repair and diagnostic manual for the mx3 series.
Thankyou

RE: mx3 accelleration problems
i dont think you should expect much acceleration from your mx3, especially while in 5th gear. the small four cylinder engine was not made to be quick. and id suggest downshifting instead of flooring it in 5th gear when you want to accelerate...you could cause some damage.
