My Mazdas
Hi all,
Just joined up as I have been a Mazda owner for over 20 years. My first was a Mazda 929 sports coupe, (known as the RX4 in the US). Great car with an 1800cc four cylinder engine. Very nice interior with blue velour seats. Lots of extras which was unheard of in the 1980's. Only problem was it rusted badly as paint technology was not as it is today.
It gave up on me when the timing chain broke. I had to replace the doors with different coloured ones as they had rusted. It was a great car.
Graduated to the 323 series. Had three of them. The auto version in white, five door hatch. Then bought a six month old 323f gti in metallic grey. Super set of wheels with the pop up headlights and twin cam engine. Had to sell it a year later as the mortgage took over!
Had a crappy company car for a while, then bought a two door 626 coupe in sky blue. 2.0 litre engine. Powerful car which saved my life on the motorway in France when I ran out of lane and had to swop over in a microsecond pulling out into the other lane in front of the traffic, I floored it at 100mph and it took off. I was gobsmacked. The driver behind me almost had a heart attack!
Ran it around for five years until it was old and flaking and traded it for another 323f with the pop up headlights. Caribbean blue 1.6 engine. Very reliable and have only just traded it last week for a new Mazda RX8. This is a machine. Velocity Red with heated leather seats. Metallic paint, fog lights, and all the usual extras it comes with. The Bosesound system is awesome. the car takes a little getting used to as it drives differently from any other. Once you can pop the clutch and be slick through the gears it is a fantastic performer. The 230 hp renesis engine whines like a jet and it is a real head turner.
So it's a bit heavy on fuel and oil, but that comes with the territory.
I love this car. It outshines all the porsches and mercs and looks good anywhere.
Only one thing though. How do the door mirrors fold in? I have tried everything but can't do it!!
Happy motoring all
