Hello everyone. My name is Matt. I recently purchased a 91 Mercury Capri xr2 with a 1.6l turbo Mazda engine. Now here's my main problem, it doesn't run and isn't getting any spark. It's getting fuel just no spark. I know this is a Mazda enthusiast forum for Mazda cars but there are no forums that I can find for the Mercury Capri XR2. So this is where I am at. If anyone knows anything about these engines please feel free to let me know.

 

Hi, welcome to the Forum. I believe you are at the right place because every Mazda enthusiast is aware that he Capri is based on the 323/protege and it was designed by the Aussies.

No spark would speak to an electrical problem. Without knowing your exact engine I suggest you check if there is power to the coil(s), make sure you have good ground connections everywhere, check out the distributor (cap, rotor and the distributor itself) check the wires and the plugs as well.

Report what you do and what you find and we will do the best to figure it out.

 

It is the 1.6l turbo engine dohc . . .
