New here -- w/ 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 GT
Hey, everyone. Fairly new to MazdaForum, but not to Mazdas.
Long-time Mazda owner, currently in the U.S. MidWest. The latest: a new-to-me, pre-owned 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. Looking at installing a proper set of fog lights on the thing, and hope at some point to install a Recaro Ergomed seat.
The car: a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 GT, along with a new set of Nokian WR G4 tires (just in time for fresh snow and ice).
This current storm was interesting: lots of rain, which then froze solid over everything; followed by ~3+ inches of powdery snow. Treacherous conditions, this morning, with the ice underneath. The tires aren't full winter tires, though they are close and sport the 3-peak severe-winter rating. Has handled everything like a champ: corners, hills, hard braking, rapid acceleration in "sport" mode. Great grip in the crud, and pretty good at speed in the heavy rain. Have had the Nokian Hakkapeliitta, Dunlop SP Winter Sport and a couple others, but though a step down from those the WR G4 has triple the grip of decently-siped "all"-season tires I've had in the past. Not bad for a tire with a 60Kmi tread life warranty. Impressed, so far.
