New member with a query
Hi all,
This is my first time on this forum and I have a question for ye'all. I own a 98 model 323 and last week I had some engine trouble. The engine kept spluttering and jumping. After I took it to a garage - the mechanic told me that my air filter was soaking wet (which he replaced) and he also removed a plastic box (which was full of water) that was connected to the filter by tubing/pipe. When I drove away I noticed that there was a loud noise coming from the under the hood. I can only assume that in removing the box, this is the side effect. Can anyone tell me if I should insist that the box be put back in beacuse the moise is driving me crazy!!!!
Any information/advice would be appreciated greatly
Cheers

Yes, removing an airbox is going to allow more airflow through the filter, and thus create more noise. A lot of people remove their stock airbox in the engine bay to achieve this result. I think if your filter has dried out by now, you could request the mechanic to put it back on, or it should be something easily done by yourself as well.
Hope this helps
