No love for the Mazdaspeed CAI for the 2010 MS3
I just wanted to let everyone know that I just traded my old 07 MS3 for the 2010 model MS3. The disappointment came when the dealership said that the Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake could not be moved over. WTF MAZDA!!!!! Oh well, just something to keep in mind in case you are looking to get the new model. As for the 2010, F-N Fantastic! A little slower response on the torque but overall handling and braking are much improved. Bluetooth connectivity is nice and the NAV screen is easy to read and view surprisingly for it being so small. First upgrade has to be the exhaust!! Not even close to the same sounds as the 2007 model.

Of course. The body has been completely changed for 2010 and the chassis has been modified too. That doesn't surprise me at all.
As for the power: Everything I have heard from the "professionals" say that it is the same, but the weight of the vehicle has increased slightly.
Also, some of what you may be feeling as power loss could be a redesign of the suspension and drivetrain to reduce the unwanted torque steer still present in the 1st gen Speed3. Changes like that tend to make the car "feel" less responsive (the butt dyno again) when in fact in reality it is not. If anything, its probably the weight increase that will slow you down.
I'm a little surprised that they didn't increase the hp and torque numbers for the new car though?? Certainly the 2.3L DISI turbo has more to give.

accually according to the tech at the dealer it has nothing to do with the chassis, it has to do with an extra hose that connects now to the intake on 2010 that was not on the 07-09 MS3s. It physically could fit and all the main connections were there without an issue but the extra hose running from the front bumper is the problem. I have a feeling that the new stock intake draws air from under the front bumper. I'm no expert but that is what it looks like when you look under the car. As for the torque steer.... there really isn't much at all so I could see that being it. Now I haven't drove it ***** to the wall yet but the delay is maybe a half second at most. Either way I'm not complaining, this is the 3rd Mazda 3 I have owned (all 5dr hatchbacks) and the second MS3. Needless say, I'm a fan of Zoom-Zoom.

If it will physically fit and you want to install the one you already havem then why not seek out a welder to install the extra inlet for you? That shouldn't be that hard.
But before going through all that trouble I would definately make sure that it will fit the car first.

I just got an email back from Mazda... They are re-producing the Mazdaspeed CAI for the 2010 MS3. I know CPE has already released one but not sure how that one will compare to Mazda's. Guess I will play the wait and see game.
