Noise from under rear of car
Friends,
I am wondering if anyone can help with some information. I have a 2018 CX5. It has been making some noise from either underneath or in the hatch. I have examined everything in the hatch and all is tight and in place.
I have found two rectangular pieces of lightweight cardboard stuffed up between the heat shield and rear bumper support and bumper cover. There seemed to have been adhesive on one side, that may have let go causing these pieces to curl and make some contact.
Are they there for a specific reason? Should they have been removed at some point during manufacture? Are they either sound or (possibly) heat dampening?
thanks in advance for your help,
I've had Acura's, Audis, Volvo's, Honda's, Fords, and who knows what else, this is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned.

There may be many pieces for noise reduction and light supporting pieces found under the car around the bumper area and other heat shields which are normal on many platforms and model vehicles.
You didn't really indicate or describe the sound you are hearing only an location?

Calixto,
thank you for your swift reply. I sounds as if the jack was loose in the spare tire well. However the jack is secure in the foam casing that holds it. The tire and all tools in the well are also secure. I just drove it after removing the cardboard piece and the noise is still here. I don’t see any loose exhaust system bracket or anything else loose????
thx Steve
